Even those who aren’t close to Pete Davidson are reaching out amid his apparent mental health crisis.
Republican Congressman Dan Crenshaw revealed that he spoke with the Saturday Night Live star, who appeared on the NBC show alongside him last month, a day after the comedian posted an alarming Instagram message stating that he no longer wanted “to be on this earth anymore.”

The former Navy SEAL told KPRC2 Houston, per The Hollywood Reporter:

“I talked to him personally [Sunday]. We don’t go back very far. We’re not good friends. But I think he appreciated hearing from me. I told him everyone had a purpose in this world. God put you here for a reason. It’s your job to find that purpose. And you should live that way.”

The 25-year-old had made fun of the congressmen during a Weekend Update segment in early November, but later apologized. A week later, the two buried the hatchet on the sketch show and Crenshaw, in turn, roasted Davidson by shadily playing an Ariana Grande song, weeks after the two had broken up.

But when he called the distressed comedian on Sunday, Crenshaw was all positive. He said he told Davidson to “know you have value,” adding:

“Especially a guy like that, sometimes he makes people laugh. Sometimes he makes people mad. But he makes people laugh a lot. It was a good conversation.”

Sounds like the funny man can use as many positive affirmations as he can get. As we reported, Davidson is apparently accusing those in his inner circle of ignoring his cries for help and not caring if he lives or dies.
We hope he immediately gets the help he needs and is realizing that’s not at all the case.
