'SNL' Boss Lorne Michaels Reportedly 'Sending Pete Davidson To Get Help' After Alarming Social Media Messages

Pete Davidson

Good for Lorne Michaels!
The Saturday Night Live exec is pulling out all the stops to support Pete Davidson after the cast member’s public, unsettling mental health struggles surfaced again on social media over this past weekend.

This all started back on Saturday night, per Page Six, when right after Pete’s mental health episode the SNL creator opted to drop all of the funnyman’s sketches immediately before rehearsals.
Then, that night, Pete only appeared very briefly in a couple very small parts of the show itself.
And now, Michaels is reportedly committed to going a step or two further; a source has revealed that this means much more hands-on help for Davidson this week, and beyond:

“The decision was taken to give Pete a break on Saturday night – his sketches were dropped before the early evening rehearsals. Lorne has pledged to help all he can, including sending Pete to get help. Everyone on the cast is hugely protective of him and were obviously upset — particularly Colin Jost and Michael Che on Weekend Update.”

Now even though “sending Pete to get help” sounds like a long-term endeavor — and it may well be one — this move comes at a good time for Pete’s career, considering SNL has several weeks off beginning now and won’t return again until well after the New Year.

Whatever Michaels and Davidson (and those loved ones and family members around Pete) have decided to do, it at least appears there are options here to maximize Pete’s recovery and well-being while still allowing him to maintain his career.
We’ll see about all that, of course; for now, the overall health and recovery aspects of his mental and emotional care loom largest.
Get well soon, Pete — wherever that takes you and whatever that means!
As always, Perezcious readers, we’ll report more as soon as we know it.
