Uh oh, trouble for CVS!
The pharmacy is being ordered to pay $77.6 million in fines and profits because of the improper control in the sale of pseudophedrine, which is contained in some cold medicines and is also used to make meth.
Since many CVS pharmacies in Los Angeles did not monitor the sale of these products they helped meth producers and traffickers get their hands on large quantities of pseudophedrine, which increased meth production in Southern California and Las Vegas.
Since CVS has admitted to the charges by the U.S. Attorney, no criminal charges will be pursued. They will continue to cooperate with the federal prosecutors.
CEO Thomas Ryan said, “CVS/pharmacy is unwavering in its support of the measures taken by the federal government and the states to prevent drug abuse.”
Yikes…this is not good guys!!!
