Dave Bautista Says It’s ‘Nauseating’ Working For Disney After James Gunn Firing!

UPDATE 8:32 P.M. EST: Bautista has now said he WILL try to get out of his contract — if the script James Gunn already wrote for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.3 is tossed. He told ShortList:

“Where I’m at right now is that if [Marvel] don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me. I’d be doing James a disservice if I didn’t.”

He also said:

“Nobody’s defending his tweets, but this was a smear campaign on a good man. I spoke to Chris Pratt the day after it happened and he’s a bit religious so he wanted time to pray and figure it out, but I was more like: fuck this. This is bullshit. James is one of the kindest, most decent people I’ve met.”

He also said he didn’t think the cast letter would get Gunn rehired but hoped it would communicate to people what kind of man he is.

The entire Guardians Of The Galaxy cast is unhappy about James Gunn being fired — but one is NOT lowering his voice!

When a fan asked Dave Bautista on Sunday if he would still play Drax in Vol.3 if Disney didn’t reinstate the writer-director, he was completely unequivocal about his feelings.

He tweeted:

If you’re unclear what he means about #cybernazis, he’s talking about the prominent alt-right members Jack Posobiec and Mike Cernovich, who dug up Gunn’s old tweets in order to stop him from tweeting against their beloved leader Donald Trump.

And this isn’t the first time they’ve gone after Disney’s wallet.

Posobiec previously tried to get people to boycott Star Wars over supposed anti-Trump messages (which was actually just generic anti-evil Star Wars stuff).

Cernovich was one of the promoters of the #Pizzagate conspiracy theory that claimed Hillary Clinton was running a child sex slave ring out of a pizza parlor.

So they used their go-to attack style on James Gunn — make the assertion that the enemy is actually into pedophilia.

Most people understand the difference between a horrible act and a horrible joke, but it seems pretty obvious the message being pushed was that he made those jokes about pedophilia because he’s a pedophile.

Bautista is spot on. THAT is a smear campaign.

Disney and others should be wary of these things as they’re only picking up steam. Don’t forget — as ludicrous as it was, #Pizzagate worked on people too, including a man who charged into the restaurant with a gun demanding to see the enslaved children. These campaigns don’t just get people fired.
