Well, this was a cool surprise! And then another one!
As part of the FireAid concert Thursday night, a huge charity event for the city of Los Angeles after the devastating wildfires this month, the audience got to watch an AMAZING set by… Nirvana! Yes, really!
Dave Grohl reunited with Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear to play four songs. Taking over as frontman for the late Kurt Cobain? A quartet of rocking women! They began with St. Vincent, then Kim Gordon from Sonic Youth took over, and in a moment that visibly shocked audiences, the legendary Joan Jett came out to play!

But the emotional climax came with the final singer… Violet Grohl.
Yes, Dave brought on his 18-year-old daughter to perform All Apologies, an extraordinarily meaningful moment to anyone who’s been following their family strife. When Dave’s extramarital affair and love child were revealed last year, it was a crushing blow to his wife Jordyn Blum, of course — but also to their daughters, 18-year-old Violet, 15-year-old Harper, and 10-year-old Ophelia.
The girls were so upset they deactivated their Instagram accounts for a while. We felt the worst for Violet, who had grown so close with her dad. The Foo Fighters rocker had invited her onstage, they were peas in a punk pod. And then came his betrayal.
That was in September. It seems they’ve done a lot of healing in four months. It was great to see them performing together again, and for such a cool event! Just look at this moment where they exchange a look before she starts! Awww…
