Male Models Are Treated Like Crap

David Gandy, who made it big in 2007 with a Dolce & Gabbana ad, claims male models are treated like the scum of the earth.
He told The London Sunday Times:

“Trust me to end up working in the only industry in the world where women get paid more than men, and treated loads better. We’re trying to change that. In the hierarchy of a shoot, you have the photographer, the female model, the stylists, the assistants, then the male model. You are the lowest of the low.”

Gandy also says there’s more than to a model than being ridiculously good looking:

“There├óΓé¼Γäós a bit of Zoolanderesque presumption about who you are. And in some ways I├óΓé¼Γäóm trying to break that trend. People think if you├óΓé¼Γäóre in modeling, you stay in modeling because you can├óΓé¼Γäót do anything else. But I├óΓé¼Γäóm at the top of my league, I├óΓé¼Γäóm having a bit of influence on people for once, and I├óΓé¼Γäóm enjoying it. It├óΓé¼Γäós opening up many doors, so I├óΓé¼Γäód be pretty stupid to leave it.├óΓé¼┬¥

Hmm. He’s kind of sending a mixed message here.
On the one hand he says male models are treated like crap, but at the same time it’s better to deal with it because you’ll make a lot of money?
Yeah, that makes sense.
