Series finales are ALWAYS hard!
And the finale for Dexter is no different as the show’s murderous rampage came to a close last night.
WARNING: SPOILER ALERT!!!!
At the end of the series, Dexter found himself considering leaving everything behind to take off with Hannah and Harrison to Argentina. But he was also struggling to leave his vigilante ways behind as his sister, Deb, wanted him to do.
But leaving all that has consumed his life behind isn’t that easy.
And the finale showed us just that as Deb ended up being shot by a serial killer, Saxon, and put into a coma with no hope of returning. Of course, Dexter couldn’t let the man who took his sister from him get off, so he went after Saxon and got his justice.
He also gave Deb what is somewhat of a proper farewell and took her body from the hospital to bury her at sea as he sees her as his last victim. After all this, it became clear to him that everything near and dear to him will end up destroyed by him. So not only did he bury her at sea, but he also staged his own death as his boat ended up caught in a hurricane and he was presumed dead.
He decided the only thing he can do is conceal his identity and leave behind the ones he loves before they lose their lives. He ended up taking off and becoming a lumberjack, so there would be no trip to Argentina.
And this is how it ends, with Dexter alone. No jail time for him, no happily ever after with his family, nothing…and that’s exactly what has people talking today!
So we want to know….
