VOTE: What Will Be The Theme For American Horror Story Season 10??

American Horror Story Season 10 Theme Poll

The 10th season of American Horror Story is nearly upon is, and before we get the official announcement of the next theme, we thought we’d throw out some guesses and see what our readers think!

Here’s what we know so far…

OK, basically nothing. We have the cast list (more on that below), and we know after the fresh, fun 1984 season, the show has officially been renewed through Season 13. So now is definitely the time for Ryan Murphy to experiment.

We also got a teaser in the form of the cast announcement video, and it definitely had a vibe…

Very Twin Peaks creepiness, no?

But what does it all mean?? Here are some guesses — you vote on your fave (below)!

Vacation

We don’t know about you, but that ocean footage definitely made us think about looking out from a vacation house. That got us thinking…

Vacations can be scary!

Sure, it’s an adventure, a break from work and the daily grind… but you’re also isolated from everything you’re used to and comfortable with, stuck in a new place with limited resources. You’re WAY more vulnerable, which is why plenty of horror movies have used it as a jumping off point over the years: The Hills Have EyesHostelUs

So what if this phenomenal cast — which includes AHS alumni Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross, Finn Wittrock, and Billie Lourd, as well as first timer Macaulay Culkin — were all in a vacation house together when something horrifying happened. Say, a murderer, a mist full of monsters, a plague (timely)…

Imagine them all breaking down together as they were trapped on vacation… for the rest of their lives!

Coastal Suburbia

OK, OK, we know this doesn’t sound scary. But picture this: an idyllic, absolutely perfect-from-the-outside community in which wealthy suburbanites compete over the inconsequential. However, underneath all the glossy sheen, everyone has their dark secrets — if anything it’s more effed up than anywhere else!

Yes. We’re talking about a horror version of Big Little Lies.

Just think of how amazing that would be! BLL but with murder! Well, more murder. Or cannibalism, Satan worship, killer robots, whatever. The point is, the seedy underbelly of coastal suburbia slowly and suspensefully unwound — like a way better remake of The Stepford Wives.

It’s definitely right up Ryan Murphy’s alley…

Desert Island

Staring at the empty beach in the teaser makes us think of another hugely popular TV show, one that could have gone the horror route but didn’t have the guts… or couldn’t make up its mind? We have no idea what happened with that one. We’re talking about LOST btw.

OK, hear us out. After a plane — or even better, a luxury cruise full of really out there characters — crashes on a deserted island, the survivors have to figure out how to create some semblance of society. But things get very Lord of the Flies as personalities clash and factions form.

Meanwhile, there’s something else on the island, some kind of monster…

Not bad for a horror premise, right? No hatches, no Dharma, no numbers, just humanity turning savage in the face of an unforgiving environment.

Cryptids

For some reason this is the theory which has gained the most traction among fans over the past few months.

First there was talk of urban legends, but that theory evolved into a different kind of myth — cryptids. You know, cryptozoological wonders? Mythic beasts?? Like say, the Loch Ness monster…

OK, as fascinating as that sounds to old X-Files fans like us, it’s not the one we’re hearing the most. While the water imagery fits, the cryptid people have in mind most is…

Mermaids!

A couple years ago they announced a Splash remake with Channing Tatum, and that sounded like a fantastic idea to us! We’ve also recently gotten some more horror-y versions with The LureGuillermo del Toro‘s The Shape Of Water, and those wild Robert Pattinson scenes in The Lighthouse. So mermaids are hot right now.

So which do YOU think it’ll be, readers?? Any of the above??
