The 15-year-old singing godchild of Amy Winehouse opened up in a recent radio interview on the death of her godmother.
According to Dionne Bromfield, Amy was at her best just days before her July 23rd death:
The last time I saw her she was fine, I think that was the best time I’ve ever seen her. It’s such a shame to know she was at her best moment and three days later she was gone. That’s the worst thing. It’s the shock to know someone’s getting better, and she was so much better, then it just hits you like that. I still don’t believe it, it’s not sunk in. At Amy’s funeral it hit me hard.
The time she speaks of is when Amy joined Dionne on stage during the teen’s perfomance at the iTunes festival in Camden (see picture above).
When Dionne was told the news, she didn’t believe it. She thought it was just another scare or rumor, saying:
My mind went blank, at first I was thinking it’s not true, because it has happened two times before, you think it’s just some sick rumour, you’re waiting for someone to say it’s not true.
But unfortunately, it was true. We know it will take time, but we hope Dionne can let go of the pain as soon and as best she can without losing the memory of her beloved godmother.
