OK, look, Donald Trump and his co-president Elon Musk have done a lot of messed up stuff since taking office. It’s been as bad as the most pessimistic among us suggested.
The US is cutting cancer research, education, medication and food to dying children around the world, social security… Farmers are losing their businesses, airplanes are crashing left and right, all our allies hate us, minorities are being fired literally just for being minorities, the damned measles is making a big comeback, the price of eggs are skyrocketing, and we may actually INVADE CANADA!
It’s honestly been too much to keep up with. We used to feel some ownership of Trump because he’s really our jurisdiction. A BS-spouting, scandal-ridden reality TV star. Now it’s mostly been authoritarian actions pretty far out of our purview. But this latest thing… We just have to talk about this, y’all.

According to The Washington Post first, and now multiple other sources, the Trump administration has ended a government-funded initiative led by Yale‘s Humanitarian Research Lab that was trying to protect children from going missing.
Specifically, as Russia has continued its invasion of the Ukraine, thousands of children have gone missing. Not killed. Disappeared. Taken. For what sinister purposes we cannot even begin to speculate. Too horrifying. But we’re talking about child trafficking here. Per Reuters:
“Ukraine has called the abductions of tens of thousands of its children taken to Russia or Russian-occupied territory without the consent of family or guardians a war crime that meets the U.N. treaty definition of genocide.”
This program was just to save those children. But Trump’s State Department, led by Secretary Marco Rubio, has ended the program. The child-saving program. That would be bad enough. But in addition to no longer paying for this program to try to track down the children, they also DELETED all the info that had been gathered.
In a letter to Rubio, Ohio Representative Greg Landsman and other members of Congress lamented the loss of all the data:
“We have reason to believe that the data from the repository has been permanently deleted. If true, this would have devastating consequences.”
A source familiar with the program told Reuters:
“They took $26 million of U.S. taxpayers money used for war crimes data and threw it into the woodchipper, including the dossiers on all the children… If you wanted to protect President Putin from prosecution, you nuke that thing. And they did it. It’s the final court-admissible version with all the metadata.”
OK. What the actual f**k.
Even if you buy into the Russian propaganda that’s slithered its way into mainstream Republican talking points about Ukraine being somehow responsible for the start of fighting, or deserving of it or something… We’re talking about CHILDREN BEING ABDUCTED EN MASSE. The only goal of this program, as the letter said, was “rescuing these children.”
The Republican party has been running on protecting children from the imaginary spectre of “LGBT groomers” for years now, but this? This program to save children is a program they’re ending?
These are actual children being stolen from their homes. Thousands of them. Just like in the stupidest movies. That cartoonishly evil. Trump should want to protect these kids.
But instead they deleted the data! That isn’t just about the money then. That isn’t just DOGE being careless and saying “If it doesn’t help Elon, cut the funding.” They DELETED THE DATA! What other reason for this can there be except to… frankly… to protect Vladimir Putin and whoever is committing these war crimes against children?! To protect… to protect child traffickers?!
We mean… Can YOU come up with another explanation??
Now… we aren’t going to just come out and say Trump is PRO child trafficking… That would be insane. And yet…
A Disturbing Pattern
Thus far the administration has done some really questionable stuff.
They used the power of the US to secure the release of Andrew Tate and his brother. They were being kept under house arrest in Romania before their trial on sex trafficking and rape charges. They are now free here in the USA, hanging out at the same sporting events as the director of the FBI. No, we are not making this up.
They also invited Conor McGregor to the White House to spew some racist garbage and then meet with the President of the United States. While Trump was winning the election, the UFC fighter was losing… his rape case. A jury found him legally liable for violently raping a woman in 2018, one of several who have accused him. It’s a case with truly horrifying details. Most companies in Ireland followed the advice of the country’s Rape Crisis Network and cut ties. Trump invited him for a hangout four months later.

And of course, even closer to home, Trump has NOT released any new files on Jeffrey Epstein.
Yes, This Again…
For some reason his followers got it in their heads he wouldn’t dare be involved in any Epstein mess. That somehow, despite being good friends with the underage sex trafficker, he was the friend who wasn’t in on it. Despite calling Epstein a “terrific guy” who is “a lot of fun to be with” and “likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side,” Trump had no idea.
Even though Trump gave the US Attorney who had worked Epstein’s 2006 sweetheart deal that protected any potential co-conspirators a huge promotion, making him his first Labor Secretary… Trump was somehow now working against Epstein.
Even after the news came out he ACTUALLY BOUGHT Epstein’s private jet, the notorious ‘Lolita Express’… Trump was probably digging around the seats for clues, right?
Even though Trump is one of the only Epstein associates who has actually been accused of misconduct — namely the rape of a 13-year-old girl… Trump was on the side of the angels. And he was planning to release all the information the government had gathered on his old pal. That’s what they thought.
But come on. He never planned to release any new Epstein info. Just look at how he answered that question during the campaign. He never intended to release anything.
And of course he hasn’t. Trump’s Attorney General Pam Bondi made a big show of releasing some files… but it was all stuff that had been out already. Only Trump’s name was re-redacted. Even a bunch of Trump’s fans were upset by that one.
And now deleting Putin’s war crimes? Making sure 30,000 children remain missing forever? This administration hasn’t done anything to help farmers or pregnant women or people who like omelettes… But damn, if you’ve been accused of crimes against women or children…
