The Trump Defense? Man Who Brutally Assaulted 13-Year-Old Boy Is Blaming The President's Words!

Another day, another act of violence in which Donald Trump serves as inspiration. You know, the guy who’s unifying us…

This time it was a Montana man named Curt James Brockway, who was charged with felony assault on a minor this week after attacking a 13-year-old boy.

According to court documents, Brockway has admitted to the act itself; per the affidavit, the Army vet told police the teen was wearing a hat during a performance of the National Anthem at the Mineral County Fairgrounds on Saturday.

Brockway said he asked the boy to remove the hat, to which the boy responded, “F**k you.” That’s when the 39-year-old grabbed the boy by the neck and slammed him to the ground.

The boy had to be airlifted to the Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in Spokane, Washington; he suffered from a concussion and a fractured skull. Witnesses say he was bleeding from the ears.

Like we said, Brockway has admitted to committing the violence, but his lawyer has come up with a shocking excuse — which just may end up going down in history as the first instance of The Trump Defense.

Attorney Lance Jasper told reporters:

“Curt says he was given an order from commander in chief to make sure people are patriotic.”

WTF??

This is certainly a new one. Jasper told The Missoulian:

“His commander in chief is telling people that if they kneel, they should be fired, or if they burn a flag, they should be punished. He certainly didn’t understand it was a crime.”

He didn’t understand that body slamming a child was a crime?? Not sure a jury is going to buy that.

We mean, it’s not like the POTUS explicitly cheered on a public figure who body slammed someone he disagreed with.

Oh, he did? That Gianforte guy who attacked a reporter? Oh, he’s actually a Representative from Montana?? Huh.

Well, even still. It’s a pretty far-fetched defense. Jasper elaborated:

“Curt takes that literally and views the president as the commander in chief and when he sees it happening, he feels he needs to do something about it.”

Jasper tried to pass on his client’s remorse, but frankly it wasn’t much of an apology. He said of Brockway:

“He told me ‘I guess I messed up because he got hurt. But I’m a patriot.'”

Wow. He really still thinks he wasn’t wrong for committing the act? Only that the kid was injured so badly??

Seriously, WTF.

Jasper also noted the veteran has a “severe traumatic brain injury” which causes him to have poor impulse control. Oof.

Brockway faces a maximum of five years in prison.

Look, we obviously can’t blame Donald Trump for causing people to have mental illness. That’s ludicrous.

What we can say, without any measure of doubt today, is that Donald Trump’s purposeful attempts to foment fear and hatred in his base, to keep them afraid and distrustful of the other, speak directly to these people.

Over the weekend, a mass shooter in El Paso, Texas, killed 22 people and injured two dozen more. His online manifesto was full of the language of Trump and Fox News, referring to a hostile invasion by Hispanic immigrants whom he intended to scare off with an act of violence (i.e. the precise definition of terrorism).

On Monday, so-called “MAGA Bomber” Cesar Sayoc was sentenced to 20 years in prison for sending pipe bombs to people on a “kill list” — including Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Robert De Niro, and several more — all of whom were specifically vilified as “enemies” of the U.S. by Trump himself.

No, Trump has not told anyone to commit acts of violence. He has not used those words.

But his rhetoric is absolute, and it is hate-inducing, and it is — factually speaking this week — inspiring very real violence.
