Donald Trump may have gotten roasted during Sunday night’s Miss Universe, but he had the last laugh after Steve Harvey crowned the WRONG contestant as the winner during the live broadcast!
The GOP frontrunner, who previously owned the pageant for 15 years, said it was “devastating” when Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez was crowned the winner for all of two minutes — until it was revealed that the actual winner was Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach!

Hours after the incident, the Donald took to Twitter to explain how this flub would never happen under his watch, sharing:
Very sad what happened last night at the Miss Universe Pageant. I sold it 6 months ago for a record price. This would never have happened!

But if he was responsible for this mistake, the candidate explains he would initiate a “co-winner” ruling so both girls (and countries) would be happy!
In a phone interview on Monday’s Today show, he said:
“I’ll tell you what I think I’d do. I think I’d make ├óΓé¼╦£em a co-winner. It’d be very cool. I would recommend that they go have a beautiful ceremony, which is good for the brand and good for Miss Universe, and do a co-winner.”
Inneresting idea, though we’re not sure how the actual winner would feel about that!

Like most of Trump’s comments, his response to the pageant was met with some criticism — Chrissy Teigen called out his surprising sympathy, writing:
@ABC THAT is what devastates him???????? Finally we find something and it’s THAT?

As for the pageant, the Miss Universe organization chalked up the mistake to “human error,” releasing the following apology:
“The excitement of live TV was evident tonight on the Miss Universe stage with over 10 million live fan votes tabulated. Unfortunately, a live telecast means that human error can come into play. We witnessed that tonight when the wrong winner was initially announced. Our sincerest apologies to Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez, Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, their families and fans. We congratulate Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach as Miss Universe 2015.”
