Passenger Carries Gun Onto Plane As Trump Shutdown Continues To Weaken Airport Security!

Donald Trump Shutdown TSA Airport Security Gun Plane

Holy crap, how scary!
Donald Trump has now given the United States its yugest shutdown — seriously, at 23 days it is the longest government shutdown in history — over his outrageous demand for a wall the majority of Americans have said they don’t want.

And as he continues to insist it’s about security — and not disappointing his voter base — the actual security of our country is getting worse by the day.
As we told you last week, we’re losing a lot of real necessities, including food inspections. Eesh!
In addition, airport security is getting weaker as 51,000 TSA workers have been furloughed, meaning they’re expected to keep working without pay. And of those, many work paycheck to paycheck, so they have to find other ways to make ends meet.
For thousands, that means using up their sick days just so they can work temp jobs to make rent. For others it means working second jobs and giving up sleep.
Either way, it’s leaving fewer eyes on what goes in the sky. Doesn’t sound too secure to us.

Notably on Sunday the TSA admitted to an incident earlier this month in which a passenger got on board a flight with a handgun! According to their statement:

“TSA has determined standard procedures were not followed and a passenger did in fact pass through a standard screening TSA checkpoint with a firearm at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on the morning of January 3.”

The gun was in the carry-on, easily accessible and capable of creating an international incident!
Thankfully the passenger — who had brought the weapon on board accidentally after forgetting it was in the bag — reported it to the airline themselves.
The incident happened less than 2 weeks into the shutdown, but the TSA assures this was not caused by the absence of workers, pointing out the callout rate on an equivalent day last year was even higher.
We don’t know about you, but it doesn’t make us feel safer to know there are fewer workers NOW than there were when this happened.
Obviously they can’t definitively stress or lack of sleep didn’t cause the error, for which the agency says it will “hold those responsible appropriately accountable.”
All over a fake crisis at the border.
When will this end??
