It’s true! Nick Lachey bumped into his ex-wife Jessica Simpson on a flight to Hawaii, and he is now spilling the tea on what happened!
As we previously reported, a source told TMZ last month that the former couple sat only a few feet away from each other in first class on a plane heading from Los Angeles to Kauai. Jessica and Nick got married in 2002 and starred on their hit reality show Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica. However, they got divorced in 2006. So you know that in-flight run-in 20 years later was awkward as hell for them! Jess even reportedly swapped seats with someone in her group to stay as far away from the 98 Degrees member as possible! Yikes!

But according to Nick, their encounter was not as bad as it seemed! The 52-year-old singer confirmed the report during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Wednesday, saying the whole thing was “strangely okay.” He continued:
“You know it’s been 20 years since… and so we haven’t seen each other in those 20 years and then spent six and a half hours on a flight to Hawaii together.”
Wait, they haven’t seen each other in 20 years?! Damn!
And by “spent,” he means the pair were only in the “same vicinity” as each other. Although it may seem like a tense situation, Nick insisted that “everyone was very, very cordial, very respectful.” That’s good! The last thing anyone likely wanted on that plane was to see exes going at each other and delaying their travels!
Nick went on to say that his wife, Vanessa Lachey, also was there, while Jessica was sitting next to her mother. The rest of her family, though? Her estranged husband, Eric Johnson, and their three children, Maxwell, Ace, and Birdie, were somewhere else on the plane! Yep, they didn’t get the first-class experience with Jess and Grandma! Ha.
But all in all, Nick had to say about the reunion:
“It was honestly fine.”
Perhaps if Nick and Jess bump into each other again 20 years from now, things will be “fine” enough that they can sit down with each other and catch up while enjoying some Chicken of the Sea! LOLz! Watch Nick recall their plane reunion (below):
