Phil Robertson, 66, the star of A&E’s Duck Dysnasty wasn’t always a famous duck hunter.
He actually had a shot at being a professional athelte!!
He may be the millionaire inventor of the Duck Commander duck calls and the star of Duck Dysnasty but he used to be the starting quarterback at Louisiana Tech for two seasons.
Guess who was his backup QB… Terry Bradshaw, the NFL legend!
Phil said:
“As a little kid, looking back on it, I could always throw farther than all the other kids. The point is, a good arm, my man, you├óΓé¼Γäóre born with that. You can├óΓé¼Γäót teach someone that. It├óΓé¼Γäós either there or it├óΓé¼Γäós not, you know what I├óΓé¼Γäóm saying? I had the arm. The ability. Bradshaw probably had me a little more on distance. I was about a 65-yard man. I remember at some point, Bradshaw and I would get out there and he would throw like 70-plus. But [I had] a quicker delivery.”
What’s crazy is that he skipped out on his last year of playing eligibility to spend more time hunting and fishing!
He absolutely had the skills to be in the NFL but he had to follow his passion, saying:
“The choice came down to me in the woods hunting ducks, or getting in a situation, a lifestyle, whereby large, violent men are paid huge sums of money to do one thing. Stomp me in the dirt. I said, you know, I think it would be less stressful to go after ducks.”
Ha! We hear that!
Though we’re not into the whole hunting thing├óΓé¼┬ª and that whole large men smashing into you thing doesn’t sound too bad either├óΓé¼┬ª LOLz!
