Uh, 15 days in jail does not seem like much of a punishment against physical assault.
People get much more for far less!
But Emile Hirsch has pleaded guilty to putting a Paramount Pictures executive named Daniele Bernfeld in a chokehold at Tao nightclub in Utah during the Sundance Film Festival on January 25, 2015, and that’s exactly what he got.

The actor struck a deal with prosecutors on Monday, and in addition to serving 15 days, he will have to pay a fine of $4,750, and do 50 hours of community service.
The charges of misdemeanor assault against him will be dismissed if he completes the jail time and community service.
During the attack Hirsch was reportedly drunk and had mixed alcohol with some medications when he grabbed Bernfeld around the neck from behind and threw her onto a table.
In her report of the incident, Bernfeld stated that it was “insanely painful and absolutely terrifying.”
Hirsch’s attorney Robert Hilder said that his client does not remember the night in question, but that he has expressed remorse and has also maintained his sobriety since the event.
Earlier, Hirsch had stated that he thought he was defending himself from Bernfeld, despite not actually remembering most of the details from the night.
We hope Emile stays sober, learns his lesson, and never, ever does something like this again!
And we hope Daniele physically, emotionally, and psychologically recovers from the trauma.
