Production of TNT‘s The Last Ship has come to a halt as the 44-year-old takes some time off to focus on his mental health.

The Grey’s Anatomy alum, who plays Captain Tom Chandler on the series that has already been renewed for a fifth season, has a history of personal struggles as he entered rehab back in 2011 for a painkiller addiction.
The father-of-two’s rep said in a statement:
“Eric asked for a break to deal with personal issues. He suffers from depression and has asked for a few weeks of downtime and the producers kindly granted that request. He looks forward to returning.”
