Jennifer Lawrence is opening up about her struggles after becoming a mother.
While attending a press conference at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival for her new flick Die, My Love, the mom of two got real about life as a parent. On Sunday, she spoke about the parallels between herself and her character Grace, who is a new mom who develops postpartum depression and enters psychosis. According to Variety, J.Law said:
“As a mother, it was really hard to separate what I would do as opposed to what she would do. And it was just heartbreaking.”

The actress shares her 3-year-old son Cy and a newborn, whose name has not been shared, with her hubby Cooke Maroney, and said after welcoming her firstborn, she experienced postpartum struggles:
“I had just had my firstborn, and there’s not really anything like postpartum. It’s extremely isolating, which is so interesting. When [the film’s director] moves [the movie characters] into Montana, she doesn’t have a community. She doesn’t have her people. But the truth is, extreme anxiety and extreme depression is isolating, no matter where you are. You feel like an alien.”
The 34-year-old went on to say having children and becoming a mother “changes everything.” While revealing she filmed this project while she was five months pregnant with her second child, she added:
“It changes your whole life. It’s brutal and incredible. So not only do they go into every decision of if I’m working, where I’m working, when I’m working, they’ve taught me — I mean, I didn’t know that I could feel so much and my job has a lot to do with emotion. It’s almost like feeling a blister or something — like, so sensitive. So they’ve changed my life, obviously, for the best and they’ve changed me creatively.”
Aww… In fact, Jennifer said she “highly” recommends becoming a parent if you want to pursue an acting career!
