FBI Reportedly Screening All 'Empire' Fan Mail Following Jussie Smollett Attack

FBI is screening empire fan mail following jussie smollett attack

According to TMZ, the FBI is working with staff on Empire, in hopes of tracking down who sent Jussie Smollett a threatening letter days before he was brutally attacked in Chicago. They are also screening other items sent to cast to prevent something like this from happening again.

The site reports a private security company was hired by the series, and met with FBI agents to establish a plan for inspecting all mail, including wearing gloves so potential evidence does not get contaminated.
The security team will be looking out for and flagging any threatening mail and are said to be alerting the FBI. TMZ sources also shared they have already flagged “hate mail.” Sadly, the show has been targeted in the past by racists and homophobes — so this is nothing new.
In addition to this, security has been doing daily sweeps, looking for anyone who may see out of place.
Back on stage this past Saturday, Jussie said he is standing strong.
We truly hope the men responsible for this brutal attack are caught. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
