Freida Pinto Defends Herself Against India's Critics

Slumdog Millionaire‘s Freida Pinto is defending herself from critics back home in India.

They aren’t too happy with her blooming Hollywood career.

Following Slumdog, she starred in You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger and will also appear in the upcoming Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Immortals.

Fans back home want her to come back to Bollywood, but Freida insists she isn’t snubbing them, saying:

I was upset initially. I haven’t done a film in India because I haven’t found a script that’s completely gotten my attention and made me passionate to get it made. I guess everybody in India has tried really hard to do what they do and then move into the West. The reason why I’m doing these things outside my country, bit by bit, is to be able to come back to India equipped with the knowledge and understanding of how to hopefully produce my own films one fine day.

Girlfriend, it’s your life, your timeline.

You do what you want to do on your own terms. Your true fans will always be there.
