As we previously mentioned, Gabby Douglas is going to be on Oprah’s Next Chapter.
While there, she and her mom were talking with Oprah about what it was like for her to go off on her own to train in gymnastics.
Being away from her family was hard, but being shunned by other gymnasts must have been worse.
Gabby told Oprah:
“I felt I was being bullied and isolated from the group. Just, they treated me, not how they treated their other teammates.”
Then Oprah, in all her infinite wisdom, asked:
“Was it with a sense of ‘You’re different and we’re gonna make you feel that way?'”
Gabby said “yes.”
We feel so bad but she sure showed them!
Now we bet those same gymnasts would love to even get a chance to stand in the same room as one of her gold medals.
Congrats again on making your entire country proud, Gabby!
