Gabriel Diniz will be missed.
According to multiple outlets, the Latin pop star was killed on Monday when his plane crashed in the town of Porto do Mato in Estância, on the southern coast of Sergipe, Brazil. He was 28.
Reportedly, the Jenifer singer was flying to Maceió for his girlfriend Karoline Calheiros’ birthday party.

Pilots Linaldo Xavier and Abraão Farias were also killed in the accident.
The military police confirmed the sad news to local outlet Grupo Globo’s G1.com.
The cause of the crash is reportedly still under investigation.
Per his Instagram, Diniz had just performed in Feira de Santana, located northwest of Salvador.
Over the weekend, he posted photos from his performance, with the (translated) caption:
“Always a joy to return to Feira de Santana and be greeted with such joy and with so much positive energy, thank you for the kindness guys. A real crowd enjoying our show. Until next time, God willing.”
Gabriel was good friends with soccer player Roberto Firmino, who posted a touching tribute on social media.
While sharing a video of the singer performing at his wedding in 2017, Firmino added the (translated) text:
“There are things that are hard to believe, the chip does not fall. The message of love and joy that you left here on earth was incredible. Glad to have met you. Rest in peace.”
Firmino’s wife, Larissa Pereira, also offered her condolences, by writing — via translation:
“He participated in the happiest day of my life. He was there, doing his best.”
In her post, Pereira addressed Diniz’s girlfriend directly, saying:
“I really do not know what to tell you, I wanted to be here just wishing you happy birthday, but I also say that I’m praying a lot for you… Asking God to comfort your heart and understanding you to understand that his plans are sometimes not ours, but what matters is that one day we will all find ourselves in a much better place.”
When news of his death went viral, Twitter users wrote:
