'Game Of Thrones' Showrunners Reveal Offscreen Death Too 'Horrible' For TV!

Game Of Thrones Cat Ser Pounce Dead

The Game Of Thrones showrunners are being extraordinarily tight-lipped about season eight. But now that it’s almost all over, they’re more than happy to tie up loose ends.
…even if it means telling you about a death which happened offscreen, between seasons.
[SPOILERS AHEAD]
So when EW asked them whatever happened to Ser Pounce, the adorably named cat owned by boy king Tommen Baratheon, they were quick to reveal the dark truth.

Cersei Lannister murdered her son’s cat after his death. David Benioff explains:

“Cersei hated the name ‘Ser Pounce’ so much she could not allow him to survive. So she came up with her most diabolical [execution]. Ser Pounce’s death was so horrible we couldn’t even put it on the air.”

Considering the other atrocities she commits in the season six finale, this is the one casualty of her chaotic ladder climb to the throne they thought crossed the line?
Hmm, yeah, OK, fair enough. We definitely wouldn’t have wanted to see that.
Dan Weiss jokes:

“If you buy the super-extended, super-charged Game of Thrones box set that comes out, the death of Ser Pounce will be in there. Just one whole episode devoted to the death of Ser Pounce.”

OK, OK, sarcasm aside, why did they get rid of the only cat on the show? Benioff admits:

“That cat was really not fun to work with. There’s a reason the phrase ‘like herding cats’ came into existence.”

Weiss concurs:

“Dogs generally do what you ask them to do if they’re smart and well trained. Cats have their own agenda.”

Even dragons are better behaved! LOLz!
You can even watch as the feline thespian ruins a take in a classic blooper reel (below):
