Tori Spelling didn’t have much time to figure out and collect what was most important to her in the entire world.
In the newest episode of her misSPELLING podcast, the 51-year-old actress detailed what exactly went down when she had to evacuate her Woodland Hills rental as the LA wildfires approached her neighborhood. ICYMI, last week she revealed via Instagram that she, her five kids, and their five pets had to quickly leave due to an evacuation order because of the Kenneth Fire.

She explained on the podcast that 16-year-old Stella helped her siblings — Liam, 17, Hattie, 13, Finn, 12, and Beau, 7 — gather their things while Momma had decision paralysis. The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum “literally froze” while standing in her closet:
“Here’s me, self-professed hoarder my whole life, and … it could be gone. In the moment, I was like, ‘I don’t know what to take’.”
She ended up settling on a few things: the DIY Los Angeles tee she was wearing, a seashell she’d collected, some crystals for “good energy”, and her contact lenses. She also picked “one memory” to bring along — her 1985 John Thomas Dye Elementary School jacket from back in the day. Tori said she had a moment of realization as she was looking at all her belongings and realized it was just… stuff:
“I’d rather my kids grab things they want than me … Who cares about me? … I looked down at my Louboutins and my Balenciaga shoes, and I said, ‘What does it matter?'”
Wow. That’s such a huge epiphany for a hoarder! We wonder if she’ll be able to take that wisdom with her…
On her way downstairs, Tori grabbed some family photos and dog food and water, and in “30 minutes or less” they were all out the door:
“We shoved everyone in the car.”
In the midst of the chaos, Tori said arguments “started breaking out” between the kiddos, two of them having wrapped up their belongings in knotted blankets:
“I said, ‘Listen, everyone has a different way of handling things and what’s important to them. If we can get it in the car, let’s get it in the car. Then we got in the car. We packed everyone in. Everyone was saying, ‘I can’t move. I can’t breathe.’ It was stuffed.”
The True Tori star compared her vehicle to “Tetris on the next level and not in a good way”. She noted her daughter Hattie was stuffed in the the car with a dog on her lap and holding one of the fam’s ferrets. Their two other dogs were in a cage that took up the entire back seat of the car. As far as their other belongings, Tori said:
“Everything else, it’s just stuff.”
She said once they finally “got out of there” they drove “right through the fire”. But luckily, their fam and the pets were safe.
If you haven’t been in a natural disaster, you can’t imagine how stressful and intense of an experience it was. We’re glad they made it to safety and are sending good vibes their way.
