Newlywed Couple's Home EXPLODES During Ceremony -- And A Wedding Guest Is Missing!

UPDATE 3/4/25 12:57 P.M. PST: Anthony Avila-Puebla, 31, has been identified as the wedding guest who snuck away from the ceremony to blow up the bride and groom’s home, killing himself in the process, according to local police.

According to ABC News 7 Chicago and other local outlets on Sunday, a Cicero town spokesperson revealed police determined Anthony was the one who carried out the explosion. He was seen on video parking his car near the home and carrying in a 5-gallon jug, which was empty upon his return to the vehicle. He did this at least two times, carrying multiple jugs into the house that were filled with flammable liquid, an investigation determined. Shortly after his final entrance, the building erupted in flames and he was not seen exiting. He was found dead in the debris.

Another shocking discovery?? Local authorities claimed Anthony was reportedly in a relationship with someone who lives in the house. Wow.

Such a sad and shocking situation…

__________

A newlywed couple are mourning after their home exploded during their wedding ceremony.

The shocking story comes from Illinois, where Tom Davis and Eleni Vrettos learned just moments after their wedding ceremony that they’d lost everything in a WILD explosion. Local officials told multiple outlets the home was being renovated at the time, and a gas leak is the suspected cause of the catastrophe. So scary.

Luckily the couple was away from the home at the time, as their wedding was at a different venue, but sadly the bride ran down the street to see her house’s destruction. She told WGN-TV:

“I ran here in my wedding dress, like down the alley, and was watching from a neighbor’s yard. Everything was just smoke at that point.”

Even more horrifying, all their guests were accounted for but one. The missing wedding guest left the ceremony early in his mom’s car and hasn’t been seen since. Amid all the rubble, a body was located, but right now the family doesn’t have answers as to if this is the missing guest or not. So sad.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family cover the costs of the damage, as they were in the middle of changing home insurances. The description said they “have no coverage to help them recover from this devastating loss”. The campaign also revealed the couple lost their six pet cats — Bambi, Graham, Reya, Tucker, Old Boy, and Grey.

While speaking to WGN-TV, the bride detailed how this was her childhood home that held many memories and keepsakes, which makes this all the more devastating:

“Now I don’t have a home and on top of it, I don’t have [my cats] as my home. That’s the most devastating because they’re the ones that give me the comfort through that darkness … My dad passed away a few years ago so we don’t have the home as a remembrance of him, too. It’s a lot to grieve.”

Just unimaginable. This poor couple.

As of writing this, the GoFundMe campaign has raised nearly $50,000 of their $60,000 goal. If you’d like to donate to help them out, you can click HERE.

Our heart goes out to Tom, Eleni, and all their friends and loved ones. Rest in peace to all the victims.
