Alleged texts between Steve Burton and his ex-wife have emerged amid their reignited custody battle.
On Wednesday, TMZ obtained messages allegedly traded between the General Hospital star and his ex-wife Sheree after news broke that they’re once again fighting in court over their daughter Brooklyn. In one message allegedly sent by Steve on March 14 of this year, he told Sheree:
“This is manipulation. You signed an order. So the response should have been hey brook your dad has you a lot in the summer. But I know your priority is not having her spend time with us. Activities do not Trump time with family.. Again this is something that you signed and you decided to neglect that and now put it on brook.. And now you get to say dad won’t let you.. When you should have said it’s not gonna work. So now you’ll be able to say you made a mistake and we should schedule my weeks.”
As we reported on Tuesday, Steve recently brought Sheree, who he settled his divorce from in 2023 after she became pregnant with a child that was not his, back to court. He claimed his ex-wife is denying him time with their 11-year-old daughter as she signed her up for a six-week program in California that directly conflicts with their custody schedule, which was agreed on and set during their divorce.

The same day Steve sent Sheree the text in March, she responded with the following message:
“No it’s not [manipulation]. I told you she wanted to do jr guards. You knew this. You are the one who decided to move. Her life is here. She’s going to be more involved in things. You’re welcome to be here and be a part of it. I told you I;m willing to work with you but she shouldn’t be limited to activities she wants to do because you insist on her being in Tennessee. That’s not right or fair to her.”
She concluded the message:
“Please just enjoy your weekend with your daughter. I’m done talking about this.”
Later, Steve responded:
“The truth is, you’ve never been willing to work with anything. If you were, we never would’ve gone to court in the first place just to see my daughter.”
Oof.
According to an email seen by the outlet from September 2025, Steve’s legal team reached out to Sheree informing her of his plan to relocate to Tennessee over the high living cost in California. Between working and commuting, his lawyer claimed everything “created substantial stress that is now taking a toll on his health, and he has recently received a sobering reminder of the need to slow down.”
What a sucky situation! On one hand, we can see why Steve is upset. If he tells Brooklyn she can’t do the summer program, he’ll look like the bad guy even though Sheree shouldn’t have ever OK’d it to begin with. We can also see Sheree’s side in wanting to let their daughter be as active as possible in the life she leads in California. But still, she should have consulted with Steve first!
