Gypsy Rose Blanchard already has a plan for how she will address her past with her daughter!
As Perezcious readers know, the convicted felon is currently expecting her first child with her boyfriend Ken Urker (amid a divorce from Ryan Anderson, making the paternity a bit murky — at least legally speaking). On Wednesday, the expecting parents joined Nick Viall on his podcast The Viall Files. There, Gypsy got really candid about how she plans to navigate becoming a mother despite having helped kill her own mom.

Gypsy, a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, was locked up for more than seven years after helping plan Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard‘s murder with her then-BF Nick Godejohn. It’s something she’s done a lot of soul-searching about over the years since the killing.
But now, how is she going to deal with this as a parent?? Is she going to be brutally honest about what happened? Try to shield her child from the intense details? Well, it kinda sounds like she’s going to avoid discussing it as much as possible! On the podcast, the 33-year-old revealed that she’s often thought about the relationship her mom could have had with her baby, saying:
“I mean, for me, it is heartbreaking because I do, from time to time, think about what could have been, and it makes me sad.”
Gypsy has a complicated and often controversial perspective on her mom these days, so it’s not that shocking to hear she’s sad Dee Dee’s not around. Even though, as an outsider, it’s hard to fathom. We mean, she’s a big reason Dee Dee’s not here…
Despite her mixed feelings, it sounds like Gypsy’s main goal is to move forward, tho. She added:
“So, I kind of put that in the back of my mind. And so, I mean, there has been questions on social media. Everybody asked the question, you know, ‘What are you gonna tell your daughter whenever grandma isn’t around?’ My response to them is that [stepmom] Kristy has become more of a mother to me than my own mother was. Kristy is going to be grandma.”
Whoa!
Well, that will be nice for her daughter! But we have to imagine — whether she wants to or not — the reality star is still going to be forced to have an honest conversation about where her biological mother is at some point. After all, as her kid grows up, it’s going to be impossible to shield her from the truth. But Gypsy Rose has time before she’ll have to face that difficult chat, we suppose…
Elsewhere in the episode, Gypsy hit back at the “negative comments” she’s seen about her becoming a mom while insisting she’s trying to rise above the hate. She shared:
“The one thing that just irritates me is the fact that people really have this stigma on, you know, new parents that have come from a life of trauma and the stigma of, oh, you know, ‘You had been through this, so you’re gonna continue on that cycle with your child.'”
The My Time To Stand author continued:
“I think that’s so unfair to put that on someone because I’m a person that I’m taking the steps to make sure that I’m mentally stable enough to be a parent and heal myself. And so going forward, you know, I might not be a perfect parent, nobody is. But I am gonna do the best I can and make educated choices with my child and have the support to do so.”
That’s all she can do! Hopefully, it’ll go as smoothly as possible.
As you may know, Gypsy and Ken announced they were pregnant in July, just months after she split from her husband. Because of Louisiana laws, they’re currently undergoing a process of confirming who the father is for the birth certificate, though they’re all confident it’s Ken.
