Healthy Snacks For Oscar Night

Melon bacon bites
Much like the Super Bowl, World Series, World Cup, or Stanley Cup are some of the biggest events in the sports world, the Oscars is the biggest even in the entertainment world.
The Academy Awards will inspire friends, family, and film enthusiasts to come together to watch their favorite films and stars take home the coveted golden Oscar.
The annual ceremony will also inspire people to eat lots and lots of food!
If you’re trying to avoid the usual calorie juggernauts like buffalo wings, pizza, or 18 layered dips, then maybe consider a few of these healthy alternatives.
Hummus – Great for dipping pretzels, chips or crackers! Jalapeno hummus or chipotle hummus adds some extra flavor to the healthy snack.
Pickled carrots – Gives carrots a salty, sour, and sweet taste and can last for a month in the fridge after pickled. Intrigued? You should be.
Turkey Sliders – Only 100 calories and taste so good, there is no need for a bun! Great substitute for those greasy, fatty frozen White Castle sliders.
Homemade Modified Kettle Corn – At 80 calories per serving, this recipe is a great way to avoid the microwavable kettle corn which includes lots of trans fat by popping corn and adding a peanut butter/maple syrup mix for sweet, healthy results.
Bacon Cantaloup Bites – Fruit and bacon?! Who knew! This recipe makes 10 bites of cantaloup topped of with a piece of bacon, creating addicting flavor overload. Each serving of 10 is 141 calories and the recipe only recommends cooking one slice of bacon to avoid excess sodium and fat. Mmm…bacon.
Sweet Potato Fries – a healthier alternative to french fries with a nutritional wallop with 219% of your daily allowance of Vitamin A in one serving. Crunchy on the outside, soft inside, and add a little brown sugar and salt for a caramelized taste.
Triscuit Pizzas – Triscuits, sauce and cheese. Yes, that simple. Bake them and you got yourself some mini and healthy pizza pies.
Apple Chips – Make ’em and bake ’em yourself. Takes some time, but well worth it and everyone at your party will thank you for this take on the apple and the chip. Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar mix over thinly sliced apples on a cookie tray and bake for 2 hours at 200 degrees. Make A LOT of them because they will go fast.
These ideas ain’t bad right? Check out this website for even more fantastically healthy and tasty recipes for your Oscar party…or just life in general.
