Oldest Known Holocaust Survivor Passes Away At 110

Alice Herz-Sommer lived an extraordinary life.
The 110-year-old passed away on Sunday of natural causes over 68 years after being liberated from a Nazi concentration camp, making her the oldest known survivor of the Holocaust.
The pianist said that listening to and playing music carried her through the horrors of the war and safely to the other side.
Alice’s story is so remarkable, she was the subject of both a book A Century of Wisdom: Lessons from the Life of Alice Herz-Sommer, The World’s Oldest Living Holocaust Survivor and a documentary short The Lady In Number 6: Music Saved My Life, which is nominated for an Oscar this Sunday.
We’re just glad she lived long enough to see how her story touched people so deeply.
