Deborra-Lee Furness may have finally filed for divorce from Hugh Jackman, but it doesn’t make his moving on from their nearly three-decade-long romance hurt any less.
As we covered, the Australian actress filed divorce docs last Friday after agreeing to settlement details with the Marvel star beforehand. They didn’t have a prenup, but sources told DailyMail.com that she lucked out with the deal and everyone’s walking away from the table satisfied. Well, satisfied financially. The heartbreak is still very real for Deb.

A New Idea insider dished on Tuesday that the 69-year-old has been left “shattered” upon news her ex and his new girl (and rumored mistress) Sutton Foster are taking a major next step in their romance. Apparently, they’re living together now! And they’re not just living anywhere — the pair have decided to settle into Hugh’s New York City penthouse. You know, the one Deb helped make a home amid their 27-year marriage. Oof.
Discussing the lovebirds, a confidant told the Australian publication:
“They’re inseparable. [Sutton is] slowly migrating her things over to Hugh’s place.”
The philanthropist is “shattered knowing Sutton is making the penthouse her own — the place she poured her soul into.” Yeah, that’s really tough. It’s hard enough thinking of your ex possibly cheating on you with his Broadway co-star and then seeing him step out in (very staged) photos before you’re even legally separated — but knowing they’re now cozying up in the same bed you once did is definitely a lot worse.
Another friend of Deb’s added:
“It’s almost unreal [for Deborra] seeing Sutton reap the rewards of all those years of her supporting Hugh.”
But Deborra-Lee isn’t just distraught over the new romance because of her own breakup — she’s also concerned Hugh’s making a big mistake! The first source furthered:
“She wants him to be happy — he deserves it and so do the kids, but Hugh’s completely green when it comes to dating. She’s concerned he’s leaping into living with someone else way too soon.”
It’s certainly moving fast — and yet, maybe not at all. It all depends on when Hugh and Sutton really got together! There are some who think they’ve been having an affair for YEARS now — supposedly starting when they were starring in The Music Man together beginning in 2021.
At the very least, Hugh has been single since his September 2023 public separation, after which rumors of his relationship with the Younger actress really kicked into high gear. The 50-year-old didn’t file for divorce from her husband of 10 years, Ted Griffin, until last October, but that still gives them almost a year of dating with no one else getting in the way. And Hugh’s already eager to marry her! So, it seems like moving in together has been a long time coming.
We understand not wanting things to get complicated for the children, though. Hugh and Deborra-Lee share two adult children, Oscar, 25, and Ava, 19. Sutton, on the other hand, shares 7-year-old daughter Emily with the screenwriter. They’ve gotta be delicate about the next steps with such a young kiddo in the mix.
