What’s going on with Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith??
Over the long weekend, The Matrix alum made a bold decision regarding her Instagram account: she went private! Yeah, so anyone who didn’t already follow her can no longer see her content… That is, unless you request to follow and she accepts. She went from an open book with 11 million followers to… stepping back from the spotlight. Whoa.
But before she made the move, the 52-year-old posted a cryptic message about the double standard applied to men and women who get married in our society. It read:
“A man can CHOOSE to belong to someone. And if he does … he is considered noble. A woman is told she MUST belong to someone or … she is not worthy.”

In her caption, she added:
“Even in some of our great religious traditions the goddess is rendered powerless without her male counterpart. And in others, the spiritual influence of the feminine, of Mother … is not even recognized. We mere mortal women are worthy simply because we exist! And those of us who have cultivated our Queendom within our inner kingdom and have a deep relationship with the Great Supreme … If we so CHOOSE to bond with someone from this space … we will erect monumental love and give birth to treasures. We need not bond in fear. You … are … greatness.”
Huh. That’s her last message before going private? Talking about being undervalued as a woman? We’re not super clear if she’s saying Will is that “monumental love” or the “male counterpart” rendering her powerless.
It’s always especially tricky with these two since she and Will have been through SO much. From her “entanglement,” to all the details about their love life being aired out with the release of her memoir Worthy last year. But it seemed like things were all good and that the couple would be “together forever.” So did something happen?? Well, there’s certainly rumors.

On Monday, a source told In Touch that Will has recently rekindled an old bromance with none other than Johnny Depp… And that Jada ain’t happy about it. The source revealed:
“Will and Johnny go way back, they have a lot of mutual friends in Hollywood and recently they reconnected in a big way. Johnny has been taking Will on boys’ nights out and getting him involved in his rock band.”
And because of said “boys nights” and Johnny’s partying habits, Jada is reportedly questioning if the Pirates of the Caribbean star is the best choice of friend for her husband. Especially since Johnny’s partying is reportedly ramping up again!
A second source told the outlet:
“Johnny’s pals fear his partying is once again catching up to him. Some claim his boozing has gotten so bad that they want to stage an intervention.”
Yikes! So is Will getting wrapped up in the same type of lifestyle? That’s what the source thinks! They said:
“[Johnny has] been promising to fix [Will] up with some great summer parties and trips to Europe and introducing him to a whole new set of friends. Will is really psyched and saying he’s going to bring Martin Lawrence along, too.”
And that’s apparently “pretty upsetting” for Jada, who the source said “feels as though he’s running off living a single life and rubbing it in her face.” They added:
“You’d think she’d be okay with it, considering how she’s been pushing for these separate lives, but when it’s her being made to look weak she flies off the handle and gets very jealous.”
The insider further alleged:
“Will’s not offering to include Jada in his friendship with Johnny and he’s really flaunting it for everyone, which is embarrassing for her.”
And she apparently is “not going to stand for it.” The source reported:
“[She’s] threatening to make things very difficult if he doesn’t get back in-line and start acting more like a married man. She feels she has every right to be angry because she totally stood by him when he needed it and now he’s making her look like a total fool.”
Inneresting. Let’s all just agree to take this with a grain of salt, of course. For now, all we know for sure is that Jada spun off some pretty inneresting words before making her IG private!
