It’s mid-pandemic, and things are getting dire. Officials are extending state lockdowns, businesses are struggling to stay afloat, and Jeff Goldblum is fighting on the streets with some shirtless guy.
Okay, so that last part isn’t exactly true. A guy who LOOKS like Jeff Goldblum was recorded duking it out with an unidentified opponent on a Richmond, Virginia street — but in these tough times, that was enough to make Twitter to go bananas.

The video went viral on Monday after it was posted by eyewitness Leo Senpai, who later took to the platform to share more backstory.
Unsurprisingly, Doppel-Goldblum (aka “glasses guy”) is the hero of the story, as the shirtless man “threw the first swing,” according to Senpai. He wrote:
“Yes the guy who was shirtless deserved it. He started it. Before this he was yelling at glasses guy calling him every racial slur too, shirtless man threw the first swing as well. And literally anytime I’ve ever talked to him he always says disgusting things towards women.”
In a follow-up tweet, Senpai revealed the rather crude inciting incident behind this “ass whooping,” sharing:
“The reason this ass whooping was dished was because he joked about “oh I could just hog tie her up”.”
Ick!
He added in a separate tweet:
“And for the record shirtless guy said some rapey shit about some one walking down the street and skinny dude wasn’t having it”
Senpai went on to share that both men sustained injuries from the tussle, writing:
“After all this shirtless dude had a round 2 but with a 2×4 then cops were called BUT shirtless got broken ribs and nose, and roundhouse kick man got a broke arm”
As for Doppel-Goldblum, Senpai said the body combat expert didn’t “want to [be] on video” for an interview, but he “appreciates everyone supporting him.”
Yes, there was a lot of online support for Doppel-Goldblum, with users leaving comments like:
“Not gonna lie I underestimated Jeff Goldblum until the spinning heel kick.”
“*Sees Jeff Goldblum trending* *Immediately fears the worst* *Realizes it’s because his doppelgänger kicked the crap out of someone*”
“For those wondering Jeff Goldblum was utilizing Taekwondo the kick is known as the Dollyo Chagi.”
“If that would’ve been the real Jeff Goldblum in that streetfight video, lol, it would’ve ended even worse for the other guy.”
Neither man was arrested, according to reports, because neither wanted to press charges.
It’s unclear what the actual Jeff Goldblum thinks about all this, but we’d imagine he’d say something like:
