Jessica Simpson's Trainer Reveals How She Lost 100 LBs!

Jessica Simpson weight loss trainer tips

Last month, Jessica Simpson made our jaws drop by pointing out her unbelievable 100 LB weight loss.

In an Instagram photo (above) showing off her stunning figure in a simple black dress, the mother of three wrote:

“6 months. 100 pounds down (Yes, I tipped the scales at 240). My first trip away from #BIRDIEMAE and emotional for many reasons, but so proud to feel like myself again. Even when it felt impossible, I chose to work harder.”

So inspiring!

But, um… how exactly did she do that??

We mean, obviously a lot of that was shedding her pregnancy weight, as she was no longer home to baby Birdie Mae Johnson. But not every momma bounces back like that.

What’s the Dukes of Hazzard star’s secret?

Well, one person who can reveal all is her personal trainer, Harley Pasternak!

The celeb trainer (and founder of sugar reset brand Sweetkick) has been working with Jess off and on since way back in 2007.

However, their work changed this time — and it really made a difference!

Harley explains to DailyMail.com:

“In the past, our focus was really about the workouts. This time, while the workouts still went on, the focus was on the time spent outside of the gym.”

Yep. It’s all about how you’re spending the MAJORITY of your time, not the hour in the gym. The good news is you don’t have to kill yourself with grueling workouts all the time — the bad news is, staying fit is more of a full-time job.

Harley focuses on what he calls “five daily behaviors,” something he wrote about in his 2009 book 5 Pounds.

Working out was only one of the five behaviors. But for these workouts, Harley focused on resistance training to burn the fat.

“Working out with resistance exercise is the best way to tone, tighten, and strengthen. But to lose weight, nothing can beat walking. Both of these are essential to get the goals that you want.”

So the next behavior was lots of walking, as much as they could get Jess medically cleared for. For the rest, he says the plan was simple (which is not the same as easy!):

“We made sure Jessica’s Fitbit read at least 12,000 steps every day before she went to bed, made sure she got at least seven hours of quality sleep a night, [and] unplug from technology at least one hour a day.”

That’s four: workouts, Fitbit steps, quality sleep, unplugging.

The last was, and we apologize for our language here, dietary restrictions.

Jessica ate a very specific diet of three meals and two snacks a day — all of which were high in fiber and protein. Harley notes:

“She never starved herself and focused on getting all the things that she needed to thrive.”

Jessica’s typical day of eating?

  • Breakfast: scrambled eggs with a bowl of blackberries
  • Lunch: salad with grilled chicken
  • Dinner: grilled fish and veggies
  • Snack 1: a handful of almonds
  • Snack 2: green beans topped with Parmesan cheese

That all sounds VERY reasonable actually!

Could YOU follow this strict regimen for six months??
