Jessica Simpson just had an ex’s worst nightmare situation!
While on a flight to Hawaii for a tropical getaway, the fashion designer’s trip was ruined by finding out her ex Nick Lachey was on board the same flight. Not only that, he was ALSO in first class. There was no avoiding him completely! Oh no!
Per an insider for TMZ, despite the fact they were just feet away from each other the whole flight from El Lay to Kauai, they tried their hardest to ignore one another. And oh boy was it awkward, y’all! As we’re sure you know, Jess and Nick were married from 2002-2006 and even starred together on their reality show, Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica. They famously divorced after struggling under the heavy spotlight, and eventually both moved on…

But that didn’t stop Nick from reportedly turning bright red when he saw the I Wanna Love You Forever singer on the flight! And Jessica herself made sure they wouldn’t bump into each other any more than necessary, even going as far as swapping seats with someone in her group in order to stay further away. Oof!
If things weren’t awkward enough, Jessica’s OTHER ex — her estranged husband she’s currently separated from, Eric Johnson — was also there, but he sat in coach. Nick’s wife, Vanessa, was there, too.
What a mess!
It’s unclear if Jessica’s current new beau was there, but we can’t imagine it getting any worse than this.
Luckily nothing went down except for some painful tension, per the source, but jeez. Talk about the worst possible place to run into your ex.
