Oh noes!!!
We were SO excited for the revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s AH-Mazing musical Jesus Christ Superstar, but unfortunately that show is no longer happening!
The news was dropped on Friday that the US arena tour had been cancelled, and with the news so many musical theater fans’ hearts broke!
Here was the official statement:
“Options Clause Entertainment LLC, an affiliate of S2BN Entertainment, announced today the cancellation of the Jesus Christ Superstar Arena Spectacular Tour including the previously announced show on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Madison Square Garden. All purchased tickets will be refunded. Tickets purchased online and via telephone will be automatically refunded. Tickets purchased from outlets/venue box office must be returned to that location for refund.”
The musical was set to star J.C. Chasez, Michelle Williams, and Brandon Boyd from Incubus plus a few other magnificent people!
Needless to say – some of the cast were deeply upset with the decision!
And they expressed their disappointment on Twitter!!!
Here was what Brandon Boyd wrote:
I got fired from #JesusChristSuperstar today….but so did the rest of the cast so we're all sad together. Yeah, it's true. Tour cancelled

And Ben Forster was even MORE upset! He wrote a couple of scathing tweets that included:
My heart is broken. My beautiful talented cast and company I adore. This wonderful show & opportunity is over. I'm so sorry I am devastated.

I am so devastated. I'm sorry to everyone who got tickets and flights..Who ever fucked it up I hate u . But #IforgiveU #imjesus..wellwas x

J.C. Chasez for his part kept it short and simple, writing:
When it rains it pours

Although we still haven’t heard Michelle’s reaction to the troubling news – we’re sure she’s as upset as anyone!
It must be SO hard to put all that work, time, and energy into something you believe in, and then it ends up not happening!
We know that is the name of the game in show business, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t still super frustrating!!
