John Legend is speaking a LOT of truth in these tweets!
As we’ve been reporting, Felicity Huffman Macy is facing a 14-day jail sentence beginning in late October, after she pled guilty to her role in the college admissions bribery scandal. She’ll head to a minimum security prison facility in northern California to serve her two weeks’ time, and from the sound of it, things there are going to be pretty straightforward and should wrap up quickly.

But is 14 days actually too much prison time in this case??
Chrissy Teigen‘s husband took to Twitter on Saturday afternoon to argue that in this case — and many, many others — any jail time at all is too much jail time! And he’s making an interesting point!
Ch-ch-check out what John Legend thinks about Huffman Macy’s sentence and more (below):
“I get why everyone gets mad when rich person X gets a short sentence and poor person of color Y gets a long one. The answer isn’t for X to get more; it’s for both of them to get less (or even none!!!). We should level down, not up. Americans have become desensitized to how much we lock people up. Prisons and jails are not the answer to every bad thing everyone does, but we’ve come to use them to address nearly every societal ill. It’s insane we locked a woman up for five years for sending her kid to the wrong school district. Literally everyone involved in that decision should be ashamed of themselves. It’s unconscionable that we locked a woman up for voting when, unbeknownst to her, she was ineligible. Her sentence shouldn’t be fewer years. It should be ZERO. And no one in our nation will benefit from the 14 days an actress will serve for cheating in college admissions. We don’t need to lock people up for any of this stuff.”
He’s not wrong!

Powerful stuff!!
And he certainly makes the case here — desire for justice (or whatever) aside, does anybody in society benefit from Huffman’s jail term? Not saying she shouldn’t be punished with a fine or something else here, because she did do something wrong, but does serving time cure any societal ill in this case?
What about your reactions, Perezcious readers?? What do U think about John’s take on Felicity Huffman’s sentence??? What would you have done with her — and in light of what the music legend is saying about this, how might you approach Lori Loughlin‘s upcoming court case?!
