Well, at least this cringe worthy moment wasn’t improvised!
In the creepiest face related event since Face/Off, John Travolta caressed the face of Idina Menzel at this year’s Oscars, and it was really uncomfortable to watch.

Despite what you might think, John’s rep has stated that the squeeze was very planned:
“It was rehearsed in total. John Travolta loved working with Idina Menzel. John had a great time at the Oscars because his wife, Kelly Preston, and his daughter, Ella, were in attendance with him.”
Which begs the question… why? Why was it rehearsed at all? Why did no one stop John after the rehearsal from grabbing at Idina’s cheeks like a Grandmother hellbent on giving a scared grandchild a love cup?
We may never know.
However, according to another source, the touch was not planned:
“John started doing it backstage right before Idina went on to introduce him. It was so weird.”
