Sorry to hear it, Willie!
To recap, last year Willie Nelson was charged with marijuana possession when the cops found weed on his tour bus at a border checkpoint.
Then last month, he struck a deal with prosecutors in which he agreed to plead no contest in exchange for reducing the charge. At the time, he was ordered to pay a $500 fine and he was told he wouldn’t go to jail. We had also heard that if he behaved himself for a month, the judge would dismiss the case entirely!
All seemed pret-ty fair to us, but unfortunately West Texas judge Becky Dean-Walker has rejected the plea bargain.
Here’s what she had to say about it:
“It’s not right simply because he doesn’t do that for anybody else.”
Dean-Walker really seems to have it out for Willie, because she wants him charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana, which could result in up to a year in jail.
We see where she’s coming from, but the plea bargain DID seem fair to us ESPECIALLY if he’s been behaving himself!
We’ll be sure to stay tuned as Willie’s marijuana case continues to unfold…
