Will Jussie Smollett Get His Own Mueller Report??

Jussie Smollett Chicago Lawsuit Special Prosecutor

Chicago is not done with Jussie Smollett.
In a case with more twists and turns than a season of Law & Order, the Empire actor first claimed he was beaten by two racist, homophobic Donald Trump supporters who tried to choke him with a noose.
Over the next weeks, the little holes in his story were filled with evidence he set the whole thing up himself, paying two Nigerian actors to help stage a fake attack.

He was then charged with filing a false police report, a crime made all the more serious by his involvement of race and sexuality into his attack claim; after all, this would only serve to fuel incredulity at legitimate reports of these kinds of attacks.
Then, in the most surprising twist of all, the prosecutors just… gave up.

All the charges were dropped, no guilty plea, no sentence, no nothing.
It just didn’t make sense considering the amount of evidence against him that was already in the public eye — and police sources said there was MORE!
After outcry not just from the public but also from the Mayor and the Chicago Police Department, Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx tried to explain her decision, saying she wasn’t confident the evidence was rock solid enough to ensure a conviction.
But now since the case isn’t going to trial, the evidence against Jussie will remain hidden.
So he’s able to claim he was always telling the truth and that he’s been exonerated, even if Foxx says that’s not true.
Is all this sounding WAY TOO FAMILIAR or what??

OK, so what can even be done at this point?
Well, speaking of the Orange One, we may actually get… yes, a special prosecutor.
Attorney Saani Mohammed, who left Foxx’s office last month, has filed an official petition for a special prosecutor to investigate how Foxx handled (or mishandled) the case.
In his filings, obtained by the Chicago Tribune, he points out because Smollett didn’t even have to admit any wrongdoing, he would be free to “perpetrate the same lie that formed the basis of the crime”:

“Indeed, Mr. Smollett now claims that the dismissal of the charges exonerates him and validates that he was not only the victim of a hate crime, but also that he was unjustly vilified and smeared by the Chicago police and the entire Cook County criminal justice system.”

In other words, if he’s telling people he’s in the clear because he was telling the truth, he’s COMMITTING THE HOAX ALL OVER AGAIN. And he’s within his rights to do so.

It’s unclear if the special prosecutor will actually be hired, but at this point it seems like a good idea.
People who hurt this country and its people for their own gain shouldn’t get away with it.
Speaking of getting away, Smollett has also failed to reimburse the city.
See, the city of Chicago sent the actor a bill for $130,106.15 to pay for all the extra hours that went into investigating the hate crime he allegedly made up. It’s part of a city ordinance in which those who file false claims can be fined “up to three times the amount of damages the city sustains.”
Now that he’s missed the deadline on paying the money, city officials have confirmed they plan to file a lawsuit to recoup the money.
The problem is, the ordinance has in the past been used against people who have plead guilty to making false claims.
Once again, Jussie was not required to do so, which means the fine may be yet another thing he gets away from.
