Justin Bieber Opens Up About The Dark Side Of Fame & Says He Relates To Amy Winehouse -- 'I'm Struggling Just To Get Through The Days'

Life isn’t always so easy growing up in the spotlight.
We’ve watched Justin Bieber mature (?) through every up and down in the public eye since he was a preteen. While that’s part of the deal when pursuing a career in entertainment — it can definitely take its toll.
In an interview with NME which will be released Friday, the 21-year-old singer opened up about the flip side of fame that he struggles with every day.

The Sorry singer shared:

“I just want people to know I’m human. I’m struggling just to get through the days. I think a lot of people are. You get lonely, you know, when you’re on the road. People see the glam and the amazing stuff, but they don’t know the other side. This life can rip you apart.”

So much so, Selena Gomez‘ ex relates to the tragic story of the legendary Amy Winehouse:

“I watched the Amy Winehouse documentary [Amy] on the plane and I had tears in my eyes because I could see what the media was doing to her, how they were treating her. People thought it was funny to poke her when she was at rock bottom, to keep pushing her down until she had no more of herself. And that’s what they were trying to do to me.”

The Canada native — whose new album Purpose comes out on Friday — admitted that despite he’s constantly surrounded by attention, he often feels alone:

“And I feel isolated. You’re in your hotel room and there are fans all around, paparazzi following you everywhere, and it gets intense. When you can’t go anywhere or do anything alone you get depressed. I would not wish this upon anyone.”

Wow.
The All That Matters singer provided a little more insight into his various legal troubles in the past:

“[I was] rebelling against everybody and everything, and being a normal 19 year old. It’s because of the way the ‘Justin Bieber brand’ was portrayed. I was a wholesome pop star who was so amazing who had nice hair and a f*cking image that no one could ever live up to. So when all this happened people were like, ‘Woah, let’s rip him apart.'”

Sad.
We’re impressed with the Biebs recent efforts to get his life together — it seems as though he’s on the right track.
