Kanye West Is Apparently 'No Longer Making Secular Music'

Kanye West gospel music future

Kanye West is going gospel!

On Saturday night, the rapper did his thing with his second successful listening even for his ninth studio album, Jesus is King, in his hometown of Chicago. Just like the Friday night event in Detroit, the Saturday evening event in the Windy City sold out instantly on Ticketmaster — and looking back on it now, it was a real eye-opener!

As you can see (below), the pop-up in Chicago was held at the Auditorium Theatre — and despite the late notice of what was going down, it clearly did not have any affect on ticket sales!!!

It’s equally interesting to see the no-phone rule; that’s something that more comedians and performers are requesting at their shows, so it makes sense Kanye would do the same for the listening party. Gotta keep it on lock!!!

Reporters and music lovers who did get in revealed more about what went down inside, too, including the confirmed appearance of Pusha-TNo Malice, and saxophonist Kenny G (yes, really!) on the record. Yeezy is releasing an IMAX film along with the album, too… in case the music wasn’t enough!

Also, you can now see the official poster and artwork for the album (below):

It’s interesting to note that New Body has been cut from the album, though; the song originally was teased on KUWTK, and it was supposed to feature Nicki Minaj, but it’s apparently been cut from the album altogether. Although, the track does feature Ty Dolla Sign as well, per a report from E! News, and so Yeezy may still put out a separate version of it without Nicki on the beat. We’ll see!

Regardless, there’s one REALLY big development to come out of Chicago on Saturday night: Kanye is apparently “no longer making secular music.”

Per reports from the venue itself last night, the rapper is apparently focused only on “gospel from here on out,” it would appear (below):

Now that’s very interesting!!!

Obviously, that can mean a lot of things to a lot of people — and it doesn’t necessarily mean Kanye is going to change his musical style that radically, necessarily. But it’s very clear that the rapper has been profoundly affected by faith in his own life, and between this and the Sunday Services… he’s keen on sharing it with everybody in any way he possibly can!

Reactions to this new development, and all the album news overall, Perezcious readers?! Sound OFF with all your comments and opinions on Yeezy and where his musical career is headed (below)…
