Keith Urban has always been a Taylor Swift fan!
As Swifties surely know, the legendary musicians go way back — all the way back to 2009 when the up-and-coming country star opened for Keith’s tour! Ever since then, they’ve been huge supporters of one another, and now Keith is opening up about how proud he is of the artist!

In a new chat with The Times out on Friday, The Fighter crooner gushed about how TayTay has grown so much as a singer despite many “brutal” challenges along the way. He shared:
“It’s been remarkable watching Taylor grow in public because it’s pretty brutal. It feels like now people have long forgotten all of the s**t she had to go through.”
A LOT of those challenges come to mind — from her feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian to her battle with Scooter Braun and so much more — but he was specifically referring to her 2010 “sub-par” Grammys performance that had “critics slamming her.” Taylor performed solo and with Stevie Nicks, but was widely criticized for being off-key. Reflecting on this, Nicole Kidman‘s husband continued:
“Just trial by fire over and over — and always getting stronger for it.”
That’s for sure! She’s risen above so much BS to become the mega sensation she is now — though Keith always saw this coming, he gushed:
“When she opened for us, I watched her perform and I’m, like, ‘Oh, this girl has her sights way past this thing.’”
And look at her now! So sweet that he is still as supportive as ever! Love this for them!
