Bestie Wake Up, New Kelly Clarkson Breakup Anthems Just Dropped!!

Kelly Clarkson is holding nothing back in the first two songs from her new album!

Ahead of the release of the new tracks, the American Idol alum took to Instagram on Thursday to share the scathing lyrics which chronicle her split from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. If we were him, we’d go into hiding ASAP because these lyrics aren’t messing around!

In the first track, Me, which came out on Friday, The Kelly Clarkson Show host calls out her ex for how he made her “put her life on hold” because she was “always pleasin’ someone” else. She also claims his “insecurity was the death” of their relationship! Later, she seems to suggest something shady may have gone down on Brandon’s part because she insists she gave him no “reasons” to leave, arguing he’s “the one with secrets.” Ohhh!

The chorus has a ton of Miley CyrusFlowers vibes, in which Kelly belts:

“I don’t need somebody to hold me / Don’t need somebody to love me / Don’t need somebody to pick these pieces up / I put together my broken / Let go of the pain I’ve been holdin’ / Don’t need to need somebody / When I got me.”

The second song, Mine, details just how shocked and heartbroken she was when they broke up, in which she sings a capella:

“I hope one day someone will take your heart and hold it tight / Make you feel like you’re invincible deep inside / And right when you think that you’ll try again / They cross a line / And steal your shine / Like you did mine”

Aw!!

The Grammy winner goes on to question why she stayed in the relationship so long:

“You know I question every motive, every thing you say / Thought with you maybe my heart wasn’t meant to break / Can’t believe I let you in, I can’t believe I stayed / As long as I stayed.”

And at the end of the song, the powerhouse vocalist warns the music manager to watch out for the bad karma that’s coming his way, adding:

“And you keep talking it’ll come back / Karma is the truth / I don’t make you look bad, you do darlin’ / Sabotage / Your choice of art / Who the hell do you think you are?”

Wow!

Kelly warned us her new album, Chemistry, would be emotional — and a bit angry! — as she processes the bitter breakup via music, and she wasn’t wrong! To see a detailed look at all the heated lyrics, see (below)!

If you haven’t been following, Kelly and Brandon broke up in June 2020 after nearly seven years of marriage. They share a daughter River, 8, and a son, Remington, 6, who have had a tough time with the transition, too. After a two-year court battle, the Since U Been Gone artist agreed to pay Blackstock a one-time amount of $1.3 million and $115,000 per month in spousal support until January 2024. She will also pay $45,601 a month in child support until the kids turn 18 or can financially support themselves. She was granted primary custody with Brandon allotted a monthly visit.

These songs really shed a light on how emotional this breakup was! We can’t wait to hear more of the album when it drops on June 23rd! Thoughts?!
