These might not just be rumors after all…
In recent months, all eyes have been on Kelly Clarkson and her NBC series The Kelly Clarkson Show. First concerns arose when the singer was mysteriously absent for weeks dealing with a family matter — and then came reports that she was considering walking away from the show after six successful seasons. Crazy considering how popular it is… but it really does sound like she’s ready for a change.

On Friday, the performer held her first concert in nearly six months in Atlantic City, NJ, and it was clearly a much-needed change of pace for the artist. She candidly vented about what’s kept her from the stage for so long — and it’s SO telling about the state of her career!
According to Page Six, the Since U Been Gone hitmaker told her fans at one point in the show:
“We haven’t done a show in a while, y’all, ’cause I have a talk show. It’s like a whole other job.”
She also pointed out that being a single mom to two young kids following her nasty divorce from Brandon Blackstock keeps her busy. That said, she and her band were “so happy” to be back together and able to book a two-night run at the Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena. She continued:
“We are bummed ’cause we love doing shows, and it’s hard to fit it in, so it’s cool when it does work out with the schedule, and it’s cool to get to see your faces and feed off y’all. Thank you so much for having so much energy.”
Oh, boy. She sounds so over that show! Oof!
It’s sad to think of her leaving the small screen, but we can understand her wanting to get back to her original passion with full force! She has a new Las Vegas residency kicking off in July, so she’ll be back to performing a lot more very soon.
The American Idol alum’s comments come days after an NBC source told the New York Post that network execs are already on the hunt for her replacement amid reports she won’t ink another deal once her contract expires next year. At least one high-profile name is already in mind so far, they dished:
“There’s a long list of names, and Hoda [Kotb] is part of that list.”
Hoda just left her Today gig to spend more time with her children and launch a new company, so we find it a little hard to imagine that she’d be ready to lead a new show of her own again, but you never know! Either way, it’s looking more and more like an exit might be coming sooner than later…
