Shannen Doherty Said The Most Heartbreaking Thing To Kelly Ripa In Their Final Conversation

Kelly Ripa is reflecting on her final conversation with Shannen Doherty. And it’s so devastating.

The Live with Kelly and Mark star is still coming to grips with the passing of the Beverly Hills, 90210 star two months later — but she just can’t seem to get over one heartbreaking thing Shannen said.

While speaking with Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday, the TV host thought back to the Charmed star’s appearance on the June episode of her Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast. In it, Kelly tried to play matchmaker, but Shannen gave listeners a devastating first-hand account into the world of dating as someone who was suffering from Stage 4 cancer. She said:

“Listen, I think it’s hard for somebody like me, in my personal opinion, because it’s hard to go into dating someone when you know that they might have an expiration date.”

SO heartbreaking. And sadly, Shannen’s expiration date was a lot sooner than everyone thought. She passed just a few short weeks after that.

In her conversation with ET, Kelly reflected:

“I always had an idea in my mind as to who might be a good match with Shannen. But the last conversation, she actually said to me, ‘I’m kind of a tough sell because I don’t have a lot of time left.’ It was just painful because we’re the same age, we grew up together, and I always thought she got the rawest deal of anyone in show business. I still believe that. I stand by that.”

Truly so tragic. Shannen really did go through SO much in the industry and personally… Even up to her very final days with her divorce drama with ex-husband Kurt Iswarienko.

Kelly continued:

“I just really adored her. Every experience I ever had with her was so positive, she was a generous human being, so that, I think, is what I took away. I felt very crushed that she seemed to know that her time was very, very limited.”

Poor Shannen.

The late actress, did, however, share some insight with Kelly into her cancer treatments… And it was all apparently pretty “brutal.” Kelly shared:

“I will say, she was telling me about her treatments and it was so brutal and painful. It sounds very glib but the fact she’s no longer in pain — physical pain — provides everyone that knew and loved her with a little peace.”

Yet despite all that, Shannen always managed to put on a brave face and take on the world. So inspirational — yet so heartbreaking.
