Lady GaGa pulled double duty as this week’s Saturday Night Live host AND musical guest! And she sure brought on the Mayhem!
On Saturday’s installment of the sketch comedy show, the Garden of Eden singer stepped up to the challenge of both hosting AND serving as the musical guest to promote her new album Mayhem, and did so effortlessly! During her opening monologue, nothing was off the table… Even her own career lulls! While poking fun at the idea of being an aging pop star in an industry that so highly values youth, the Bad Romance singer joked:
“Last time I hosted SNL I was 27. I’m 38 now, which is scientifically the best age for a female pop star to be. Honestly though, most pop stars are over 40. Chappell Roan is 58, and Charli XCX, she’s 75. Tate McRae is my biological grandmother.”
HA!
The A Star Is Born actress went on to recap her last time hosting the comedy show in 2013, which included one performance she sarcastically quipped “aged amazingly” — her duet of Do What U Want with now-convicted criminal R. Kelly:
“There’s no need to Google SNL 2013 Lady GaGa featuring R. Kelly. So we all won’t, and I won’t bring it up because that would be bad.”
Oof!
The pop superstar then gushed about being “an actor now” before joking about her latest film Joker: Folie à Deux — which was absolutely eviscerated by critics:
“I’ve been very diligent about selecting films that would showcase my craft as a serious actor — films such as Joker 2. Apparently people thought it was awesome. Joaquin [Phoenix] and I even got nominated for a Razzie, which is an award for the worst films of the year. So, we won for worst on screen duo. But jokes on them, I love winning things! And my Razzie brings me one step closer to an EGORT — it’s like an EGOT but it’s hurtful.”
HA! Hey, at least she can laugh at herself!

The Shallows singer went on to gush more about how her mother Cynthia Germanotta set her up with her fiancé Michael Polansky, before promising a great show and to never act in Joker 3! LOLz! Watch her full monologue (below):
To hype up her new album Mayhem, which debuted on Friday, the Vanish Into You singer took to the stage to perform her highly popular dance hit Abracadabra. You can watch her full performance (below):
