Master of None writer/actress Lena Waithe speaks out.
As we reported, in January, a woman with the pseudonym of “Grace” spoke to babe about an incident involving Aziz Ansari which she calls “the worst experience with a man [she has] ever had.” Specifically, the photographer accused the actor of pressuring her into performing several sexual acts even though she “was physically giving off cues that [she] wasn’t interested.”

The Parks and Recreation alum eventually responded, saying the encounter was “completely consensual.”
In her April 2018 Vanity Fair cover story, The Chi creator was asked about her costar’s allegations, and immediately became “quieter, more thoughtful.”
The Emmy winner then said:

“At the end of the day, what I would hope comes out of this is that we as a society├óΓé¼┬ª educate ourselves about what consent is ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ what it looks like, what it feels like, what it sounds like… I think there are both men and women who are still trying to figure it out.”

The 33-year-old added:

“We need to be more attuned to each other, pay more attention to each other, in every scenario, and really make sure that, whatever it is we’re doing with someone else, they’re comfortable doing whatever that thing is, and that we’re doing it together… That’s just human kindness and decency.”

Waithe previously told KPCC‘s The Frame in February:

“Here’s the truth ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ in every situation, it’s not always black-and-white… And I know that’s simple for people, and it’s easy for people to [ask], ├óΓé¼╦£Whose side are you on?’ There are no sides, really, in some of these scenarios.”‘

Lena appears in Steven Spielberg‘s new film Ready Player One.
