A look into Liam Payne‘s hotel room shows just what a hard time he was having in the minutes before he passed.
The One Direction alum, just 31, sadly died on Wednesday after jumping from his fourth-story hotel room in Buenos Aires. At this point, it is unclear if this was intentional or not. As we’ve already covered, a 911 call placed just minutes before his death revealed that hotel staffers were worried about his safety since he allegedly had “too many drugs and alcohol” and was acting erratically and “trashing” his room.

While details of the death are still under investigation, in photos obtained by Argentina’s largest newspaper Clarin, the singer was clearly going through it. Pictures taken of his room just after he was found dead show traces of white power all over the floor in the living area alongside burnt aluminum foil, a green lighter, a package of Dove soap, and other apparent trash.
His television screen was also shattered, and there was a half-full cup of champagne on a nearby table. In the bathroom, burnt aluminum foil and broken wax were found. You can see the harrowing photos below and HERE.
So sad.
Buenos Aires police confirmed the room was in “total disorder” when they entered, sharing this statement via The US Sun:
“Upon entering, total disorder was observed, with various elements broken. The balcony area was inspected in order to establish access to it.”
Authorities have yet to confirm what substances were found in the room — though there are suspicions it could be cocaine, per La Nacion. Investigators will be running tests to confirm. According to the local outlet, police are also planning to look into who might have sold the drugs to the pop star.
Sources close to the investigation also told the newspaper that the singer’s body was found on the ground with “a bottle of whiskey, a lighter and a cellphone” alongside. Police reportedly also discovered several blister packs of medication in the room, including Clonazepam, as well as energy drinks and other over-the-counter remedies.
Liam struggled with substance abuse and mental health challenges, including suicidal ideation, for years. He was also going through a tough legal situation with his ex Maya Henry, about which he was apparently “extremely overwhelmed” in his final days. But once again, it has not been confirmed if this fall was intentional or not yet. And as always, Maya is certainly not to blame if it were.
We’re just so sorry to see the state he was in during his last moments. Truly heartbreaking.
