Liam Payne Judge Explains Why Star's Death Was 'Foreseeable' -- And Why So Many Are Being Charged

Liam Payne Fans Launch Petition To Create #LiamsLaw For Mental Health

Why are so many people facing criminal charges in Liam Payne‘s death? The judge in the case is weighing in… and when she’s done, you may agree!

OK, to catch everyone up… On Sunday, Argentinian news outlet Infobae reported that five individuals were being charged in connection with the One Direction alum’s death. FIVE PEOPLE! Casasur Palermo Hotel chief of security Gilda Martín and head receptionist Esteban Grassi, as well as Liam’s friend Rogelio “Roger” Nores, have all been charged with negligent homicide — what we might think of as manslaughter. They face up to five years. Waiter Braian Nahuel Paiz and hotel employee Ezequiel Pereyra are both accused of selling Liam dangerous drugs — and have been charged with supplying narcotics for payment. They are looking at up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

Now Judge Laura Bruniard has given her take on the charges. About the hotel managers, she explained in official court docs, per The US Sun:

“I consider that they didn’t act maliciously with regards to the singer’s death but they were reckless in facilitating his transfer to his room by taking him there. They created a legally unacceptable risk and Liam Payne’s death is the result.”

Liam reportedly had to be “dragged”, half-conscious, from the hotel lobby to the elevator and carried into his room on the third floor (what we would call the fourth floor in the US — they do Ground, 1, 2, 3). She argues his state was obvious — he was “unable to stand” or “look after himself” due to “consumption of various substances.” We know from tox reports he was high on cocaine, crack, benzodiazepine, and “pink cocaine” — a mixture of ketamine, methamphetamine, MDMA, and other drugs. Judge Laura argues the “proper thing to do was to leave him in a safe place and with company until a doctor arrived.”

But no one sought help for him — instead they brought him up to his room. And putting him into a dangerous position, like being so high up in a room with an open balcony, led directly to his death. The court seems to be going with the theory Liam wasn’t trying to harm himself but rather to escape the room. She writes that he “tried to leave the room through the balcony and thus fell.” She lamented:

“Liam wanted to climb over the balcony, fell into the abyss and died.”

Regarding Roger, she says Liam’s friend and manager was meant to look after the pop star. Instead he left him alone in what was clearly a “state of vulnerability.” She argues with the 31-year-old fighting to get out of the room, dangerously intoxicated, his death was “foreseeable.” And that’s why leaving him is grounds for criminal prosecution. Damn.

What do YOU think about all these people being charged??
