There is finally an update in Lil Nas X’s police battery case.
As you may recall, the 26-year-old singer was arrested in August after walking through the streets of Los Angeles in nothing but his underwear and allegedly assaulting police officers. A law enforcement source claimed to NBC News that he punched one of the responding officers in the face — twice! Yikes! He got charged with four felonies: three counts of battery on a police officer and one count of resisting arrest. Following his arrest, he pleaded not guilty and was granted bail on the condition that he would enroll in an outpatient rehab program and stay away from illegal drugs.

Seven months later, the pop star appeared in court on Thursday to request a diversion for his case. According to Rolling Stone, his attorney requested a delay so that she could submit a motion to transfer the case to a diversion program. It is unknown what type of program the lawyer is interested in. However, those requests typically result in the defendants getting treatment to avoid conviction. The judge ordered Lil Nas X to appear in court again on April 6, so we’ll see what happens.
After the hearing, the Industry Baby artist had a message for fans outside of the courthouse. He said:
“All I wanted to say is to my fans, I really love, and I miss you, and I appreciate your support so much, and I can’t wait to be back hugging you guys. You guys, have a good day.”
